One of my fondest memories of my Richland days is going to Furman’s Diner and having a slice of their strawberry pie.

Furman’s Diner was located on Rte. 422 in Myerstown, just a couple miles from Richland, and they featured the phrase “Try Our Strawberry Pie” on their sign. At some point the name changed to the Kumm Esse Diner but their sign still invited you to come eat their strawberry pie.

I just tried my hand at making a strawberry pie myself, and it turned out quite tasty, although I didn’t add the whipped cream topping (trying to cut back on you know what).
