I used to find squirrels cute, but now I see them more as destructive little critters. Especially since they caused me a $2000 bill to get them out of the top of my house.

So I bought a squirrel trap and as new squirrels have moved into the neighborhood, I started catching them.

A bit of peanut butter on a piece of cardboard seems to work fine as bait.

Except— 

The first time I tried it, the little bugger was able to pull the cardboard strip out of the side of the trap.

But the second attempt worked and I carried the squirrel to a nearby park to release it. Everyone I passed was smiling; I believe they thought it was a pet.

The following day I caught a second one. And took it to a different park.

The next day a wily squirrel pulled the cardboard with the peanut butter out of the trap again, but as it was raining, I decided not to bother rebating the trap. 

But the following morning I got a surprise. Even though there was no bait in the trap, a squirrel had got itself caught in it.

So off to a park it went.

As far as I can tell, there were just three squirrels in the neighborhood, so for the time being, we are squirrel free once again.

But not for long.

A couple of the neighbors feed them, so there will be new ones taking up residence shortly.
