I didn’t have any plans to buy anew iPad (let alone an Apple Pencil), but then I watched the Keynote at Apple’s World Wide Developers’ Conference and saw this. I have the video queued up to start at the relevant point.
Now it’s true, I might not have much (meaning none, nada, zero) use for that particular feature at this moment in my life, but I want it anyway!
So I checked to see when I got my current iPad. Oh, five and a half years ago. And it’s still working fine. Of course! Apple makes products that last, despite what some folks claim.
Still, maybe it was time for a change.
I priced a current version of the model that I have, iPad Pro 11”. Hmm, the price has gone up a bit in five years, hasn’t it? During the process, Apple’s web site asked if I wanted to trade in my current model. I didn’t think it would be worth much after five years, but sure.
To my great surprise, Apple offered me $235 for it, subject to their inspection once I return it. That nearly makes up for the price increase.
Something to think about.
The question isn’t will I upgrade?
But when.
As that feature and the other features unveiled this week won’t be available until the fall, there’s no hurry.
(Except perhaps that the value of my current iPad might decrease if I wait too long.)
