Ich verstehe die Menschen nicht

Suv backing up.

When I arrived home from a short shopping spree, I noticed that there was a traffic cone at the start of my street to keep cars from turning into it, and at the opposite end of the street there was a huge rental van parked with several folks loading furniture, etc., from an apartment.

So all the more reason that I was surprised as I walked towards my house, when I saw that an SUV, that had been parked near the traffic cone end, was pulling out and was headed towards the opposite end. What did that SUV driver expect? That that huge rental van was going to close up, pull out of its parked space, and drive around the block, just so that the SUV could pull out of the street? Wouldn’t it have been much easier for that SUV driver to just back up a few car lengths?

Well, I decided I needed to watch to see what happened.

As expected, the SUV came to a stop at the end of the block where it was cut off by the parked rental van.

I was soon joined by a neighbor who had also seen what was happening and was curious about the outcome.

It didn’t take long. One of the fellows who had been loading furniture into the van walked over and said something to the SUV driver. It appeared they were engaged in an animated discussion.

It was over pretty quickly.

I saw the backup lights of the SUV come on, and I realized the driver was capitulating. And now the arrogant SUV driver had to back up the entire length of the block rather than just a few car lengths.

My neighbor and I just shook our heads.

And laughed.

When the SUV got just past my house I snapped the above pic.
