Baking Again

Standing Mixer.

I’ve been doing a little more baking now that the weather has finally cooled off, so I decided to get a standing mixer.

I’ve been using an electric hand mixer that I’ve had for it must be 50 years by now. It still works just fine, but I thought a standing mixer could do a bit more.

I bought a red one because it was cheaper by a few dollars than the other colors, and I don’t really care what color it is.

The first thing I made was a batch of pie dough, following my mother’s recipe. Using the dough attachment, it worked out pretty well.

Of course, I’m still no good at rolling out the dough and placing it in the pie pan.

But other than a broken pie crust the pecan pie turned out scrumptious!

    • Yeah, I have to keep remembering to press the button on the side to raise or lower the beaters, but it’s great not having to hold them in place. I can just watch the action.

      • My favourite thing to make in it is whipped cream, super simple to do but I just really appreciate that I can just pour the whipping cream, vanilla and sugar in and let the mixer do all the work! I used to dread making whipped cream with my handheld mixer.
