As I was walking to the Acme this morning, I saw bunch of firemen clustered around a home not too far from mine. As I got there, I realized the house was completely burned out.
One of the firemen was talking to a neighbor and I heard him say that the occupants had been transported to the hospital.
When I turned the corner, there was a WCAU TV unit there, and a gentlemen asked me if I could describe if I had seen the blaze for the TV audience. I had to tell him that I knew nothing. I hadn’t been aware of the fire until I came out of my house and walked past it just now.
When I returned home, I checked the WCAU web site and there was a video with a bit more information. Alas, I can’t embed the video here and, TV news being the ephemeral thing it is, it might not even be there any more by the time I post this to my blog, but apparently the firemen performed CPR on the three victims before transporting them to the hospital, and since then two of them have died. I did not know the people involved, although I’ve seen them around the neighborhood.
