Quote of the day:
Enjoy life. This is not a dress rehearsal.
—Friedrich Nietzsche
When I moved from my house in the Wissahickon neighborhood of Philadelphia back to an apartment in Center City, I had to get rid of the majority of my books, as well as most of my bookcases.
Then I moved yet again (and again and again) to a yet smaller apartment, and once more I found myself pruning my books and bookcases, this time parting with books that I really wanted to keep.
After a few years I decided that Center City, at least in the daytime, had become too noisy for me, with all the constant development and renovations and heavy machinery drilling and hammering, so I moved again, this time to the house in South Philly where I’m still residing. And with the additional space I no longer had a reason to curtail my book buying habit. And I had never really stopped buying DVDs and Blu-rays.
Well, the books and Blu-rays accumulated and I realized I needed some more bookcases, so I checked Ikea and found their Billy bookcase to my liking. I considered ordering two.

That was several months ago.
In the meantime, the price went up. And then I saw that Ikea said the price would be going up again due to the threatened tariffs by that rapist in the White House. So I decided I better act.
I placed my order last Wednesday and Ikea promised to deliver between Sunday and Tuesday, did I want to have Taskrabbit assemble them for me?
I’ve managed to assemble some Ikea furniture in the past. The TV stand, for example. But for more elaborate items I’ve used Taskrabbit and I’ve been happy with the results. Bookcases seemed like something I’d be able to handle myself, but it was only fifty bucks to have Taskrabbit do it, so why not? I scheduled them for Thursday morning.
Ikea delivered the Billy bookcases on Sunday morning and now they’re just taking up space in my living room. I’ve already tripped over them once. I asked if the Tasker could come earlier than Thursday and he is now scheduled to come at 1100 hours this morning.
