Quote of the day:
I’ve often said there’s nothing better for the inside of a man than the outside of a horse.

I’m not much of a fan of Halloween, but to walk around this neighborhood you’d think it’s the biggest holiday event of the year.
For some reason that I cannot fathom, Philadelphians really love their Halloween. I think more folks put up decorations for Halloween than they do for Christmas. Some of my neighbors even had theirs up already in September.
This one, like several others even has a sound component. I didn’t hang around to listen to what it said though.

I baked a batch of peanut butter cookies yesterday, and as usual when I bake, something went wrong. This time I forgot to mix in the chopped peanuts at the end. I didn’t notice it until I had already put the cookie dough on the cookie sheets, so I just sprinkled the chopped nuts on the cookies and baked them that way.
I won’t be sharing these with the neighbors. That just means there are more for me.

Meanwhile, the season premiere of Elsbeth featured Stephen Colbert playing a late night talk show host. It also had a plethora of Stephen Sondheim references in the background music and the dialog, mostly to Merrily We Roll Along but I caught at least one Follies tune as well. I wonder if the two Stephens were a package deal as Colbert is quite a Sondheim fan.
