I was over at Fante’s looking for something else, when I spied this thing.

It purported to be a 3-in-1 Avocado Slicer.

As if I needed one. 

But wait.

I eat about five avocados a week, and I’m always worried that when I cut into one with my sharp knife I might slice my hand open.

This isn’t just an avocado slicer, it can split and pit the avocado as well, and it’s not sharp, so it can’t cut open your hand, requiring a trip to the ER.

Maybe it was worth a try.

Sadly, as an avocado slicer, it’s more of an avocado masher. If an avocado is ripe enough, it doesn’t seem to take too kindly to that big oval thing with the plastic blades. It just ends up a mashed mess.

But happily, the splitter and pitter work like champs!

No longer do I have to worry about cutting open my hand while slicing or pitting an avocado; this gadget does its job to perfection.

So two out of three aren’t bad, hey?

And I can conveniently store it in the extra slot in my knife block.
