A Followup Appointment

I went for my followup appointment with my new primary care physician or in this case a PA.

The first time I saw her, we went over a bunch of things and there were several things that I forgot to tell her. So I had planned to make a list to go over them in the followup.

Except I kept putting it off so long that I forgot exactly what the things were that I had forgotten to go over with her.

The other day I tried to make a list, and I think I came pretty close.

Anyway the visit went well. The nurse who showed me to the examining room asked me for my birth date to verify I was who I said I was, and then she remarked, “Oh, that’s the day before mine!”

Funny, she didn’t look that old. Maybe she just meant the month and day, not the year.

Or maybe not.

The followup with the PA went well, and then I got bloodwork and a flu shot and a Covid shot. I scheduled a date in two weeks to come back to get a shingles vaccine.

I had been putting that off because I had gotten the original shingles vaccine, the one that isn’t as effective, because this newer one is supposed to have side effects even in people like myself who don’t normally get side effects. But I saw an article that said that those who get the Shingrix vaccine have a lower risk of getting Alzheimers. It isn’t known if there is a causal relation or not, but I figure it’s worth a shot, so to speak.
