Ken Burns has a new film and it’s all about my favorite Founding Father. That, of course, is Benjamin Franklin.
I’ve just watched the first part and it’s excellent. It covers both the good and the bad aspects of the man, but of course the good far outweighs the bad.
Highly recommended!
Benjamin Franklin, A Film by Ken Burns
The only weakness of the film so far is that I don’t think it really dramatizes just how humiliating the incident in The Cockpit, which concludes the first part, was for Franklin. He had to stand for over an hour while verbal abuse was heaped upon him. It’s the incident that truly turned him from an Englishman into an American.
