After a very long hiatus I tried baking again. Some peanut butter cookies this time.
I mixed the dry ingredients (flour, baking soda, etc.) in a small bowl and set it aside on the range, as I have very little counter space.
Then I mixed the sugar and butter in a larger bowl, added an egg, the peanut butter, and some chopped peanuts (for a touch of class, of course) and got the mixture going.
Turned on the oven.
There’s a story there, as I now have a smart oven, one of the main advantages being that I don’t have to fire up the big oven and heat the whole downstairs when I want to bake. More on that later.
Anyway, I heated up the smart oven and dropped the batter onto the baking sheet and cross-hatched the droppings with a fork and slid the sheet into the smart oven. The only thing was the batter seemed kinda thin and the fork got really sticky when—
Walking back into the kitchen I realized why. The dry ingredients were still resting in the little bowl on the range!
So I grabbed the sheet out of the smart oven and scraped what I could back into the bowl and mixed in the the dry ingredients.
I don’t think I’ll be sharing any of these with the neighbors.
