Setting Off the Alarm

I just bought some shampoo at Rite Aid and when I walked out of the store, the alarm beeped at me.

That’s because there was a magnetic sticker on the shampoo bottle that set off the alarm.

This is a common occurrence at Rite Aid.

I’m not sure what those magnetic stickers are supposed to do. If someone were to conceal a second piece of merchandise with one of those stickers on it and pay for the first, presumably the Rite Aid clerks wouldn’t bat an eye when they walked out and set off the beep.

The stickers are easy to peel off, as I discovered on my walk back home.

Very strange.
