Why isn’t this fellow smiling?

The answer is at the end of this post.
Meanwhile, it turns out that reading my blog might be financially advantageous for some folks. As it turns out, a former co-worker of mine, whom I immortalized as “Pat” in that cheeky short story I wrote a couple months ago, wasn’t aware of the Medicare reimbursement available on some health plans, so she’s going to check to see if hers offers it. Let’s all send good luck wishes to “Pat”!
You may recall that I’ve complained several times about the Apple Watch’s inability to accurately track when one is standing. So I’ve been playing a little game with it. As I sometimes wake up in the middle of the night, I have now gotten into the habit of shaking my arm for a minute to fool the Watch into recording that as Stand time. The result has been that when I get up at 4:30 AM, I’m already credited with anywhere from two to four hours of Stand time.
Now my object all sublime, I have achieved this time, is to fool the Watch into recording all those hours from midnight on as Stand hours:

As you can see, when I got up at 4:30 this morning, I was already credited with five hours of Stand time! If I can remember to shake my arm for at least a minute during every hour between now and when I go to bed at 10 PM tonight, I should have 23 hours of Stand time.
Take that, Apple!
Oh, and that fellow who isn’t smiling? Follow this link to see why.
PS Right after posting this, I received the notice that my reimbursement claim was approved, though I’m still waiting for them to disburse the funds to my checking account. What a funny word that is: disburse.
