I ordered the Law & Order DVD Complete Series set, or at least the first 20 seasons, which used to be the the complete series, and I’m happily ripping the DVDs to add the shows to my Plex library.
Well, at least there haven’t been any unrecoverable errors yet in the 100 plus DVDs that come with the set. I’m not quite halfway through.
I’ve started buying DVDs and Blu-rays from Ebay, as I’m trying to wean myself away from Amazon, at least to some extent, and I’m finding that I can get better prices there as well.
One nice thing that I’ve found so far about this set of DVDs: all the episodes are in the correct sequence on each DVD, which makes it a lot easier to identify which episode is which.
You see, when I rip a DVD, each episode ends up with a file name something like “Law & Order s9 d3-C1_t00.mkv”. Then I have to rename it into something that the Plex software will recognize, in this case “Law and Order – s09e10 – Hate”, meaning the Tenth episode of the Ninth season which was entitled “Hate”.
That the files end up being all in the correct sequence means I only need to spot check every third or fourth episode to make sure that I’m getting the names correct. So thanks to whomever mastered these Law & Order DVDs.
