Closing the Hole

After the first two squirrels were trapped, one more was trapped the following day.

And then there were none.

Really. None.

No more were trapped. But more important, what had seemed like a steady stream of squirrels parading by out back had come to a halt.

Was it possible that there had only ever been three squirrels back there, running back and forth all day long long? Three squirrels that were eating all the tomatoes and other vegetables that I planted back there?

Could be.

In any case, I haven’t seen a single squirrel back there since the third squirrel was trapped and taken away.

On Saturday a Critter Control guy came to seal up the second hole.

Sealed hole.

And that should be the end of it.

He did say that catching three squirrels so quickly in such a small space was rather unusual.

There is a one year warranty should the squirrels come back.

That’s the least they can do given what they charged. While I don’t exactly feel ripped off, I do kind of wish they had given me an itemized invoice for their services.

Still, if they have not only gotten rid of the squirrels in the ceiling but also the squirrels that were eating my garden plants, perhaps I can actually grow some tomatoes and other vegetables this year. Yes, I know that tomatoes are fruits.

So what unexpected financial shock will the fickle finger of fate have in store for me next?
