I was looking through the 1950 census records for something else and I noticed that my aunt and uncle Joan and Mark Zellers were living on Church Street, which I remembered, but what I hadn’t noticed previously was that their neighbors were the Millers, Gerald and Betty and their children Sherry and Kirk.
My recollection of the Millers is from when they lived on East Main St.
So I dashed off a note to Sherry and she confirmed that they lived in the same apartment building as Joan and Mark until Sherry was about five or six, when they moved to Main St.
My recollection of Joan and Mark living there is very hazy. I just recall it as a white apartment building, can’t recall the interior, but I do vaguely remember that there was a small novelty store on the first floor. It didn’t carry very much, but I did buy, or my parents bought for me, a little red wooden top. The kind that you wrap a string around to give it a spin.

No, that’s not it; just a photo that I found on the web.
BTW, in case you’ve noticed that some of my posts have gotten a bit thin lately, that’s because I’m working on a lengthy project. I had hoped to have it finished by now, but like everything, it’s taking much longer than I expected. I hope it’ll be worth it.
