Lately there’s been a huge increase in the amount of spam that I’m receiving. For example, I’ve been getting a lot of messages that say:
We have you in our records as not signed up to receive a ballot in the mail. Sign up in 2 minutes at:
Followed by a web address that, of course, I do not click on. Below is a sample.

Naturally I report it as junk.
Number one: I know that I’m registered to receive a ballot in the mail
Number two: Why would I be receiving a text from area code 701, which is in North fucking Dakota, while I’m in Pennsylvania, to tell me I’m not registered?
I’ve also been receiving a LOT of texts from the Kamala campaign or those that are helping her. My penance for having foolishly given my real number when I donated to the Bernie and Elizabeth Warren campaigns years ago. I guess those spam texts will never stop now.
Here’s a tip: If you want to donate to a candidate or political party and don’t forever after want to receive spam to your phone and/or email addresses, create a Google Voice phone number and a special Gmail account just for that purpose. I wish I had thought of that sooner.
As it is, I think I’m developing a repetitive strain injury just from marking all the Kamala texts as spam. (Yes, I want her to win the election, I just wish her campaign would leave me alone!)
Then there are the phone calls. I don’t know where they’re coming from because they don’t leave a message, and I have the phone set to silence all unknown callers, but I’m getting several every day.
Yes, this is a First World problem. I know.
