The tomatoes that I grew in my tiny backyard are very red and very small.
And that would be OK except the skins are tough, and I hate tough skins on tomatoes.
Moreover, the flavor is not really any better than what I can get from the tomatoes I buy on 9th Street.
So why did I go to all that trouble to grow my own?
I don’t know if the problem is the way I tended them or the soil I grew them in or the hot tropical Philadelphia sun or what?
The variety of tomato? They are beefsteak tomatoes. I thought they ought to be bigger and, well, beefier.
Not sure if I’ll go to all the trouble again.
Next year I might just call the whole thing off.
Ughhhh I feel your frustration! Same thing happened to me last year but I’m too stubborn to quit so trying them out again this year….but it is so frustrating hey?!
Best of luck to you. I hope this year’s harvest turns out better than mine! 😉
