Engineers vs. Climate Change

In the Naked Scientists episode Engineers vs climate change Chris Smith takes a look at some novel means of combatting climate change.

A sample quote:

So for me, energy is absolutely key to solving the climate crisis. 80% of all the world’s greenhouse emissions from energy comes from fossil fuels. Interesting fact, if we stop using fossil fuels completely, 40% of all ships on our high seas would not be required. That gives you the scale of how much fossil fuel we move around and how much we burn every single year. So if you look at the engineering solutions, renewables are simpler technology, cleaner technology, and local technology.

They also look at permeable concrete to fight future flooding. That is, concrete with holes.

And could we refreeze the poles to fight climate change?
