I was watching a thriller the other night when there was a scene where a woman was being held hostage and some law enforcement officers came to the door who were unaware of that fact. She was supposed to get rid of them quickly but while doing so, she made a hand gesture, and as the officers were walking away they commented on seeing her universal distress signal and took steps to rescue her.

Say what?

So I looked it up, and sure enough there it was:

Then I rewound the video and that was the signal she had made.

Nice to know if I’m ever in that situation or if someone sends that signal to me.
