In the Balance

Lady Godiva.

At lunchtime on Saturday I got an urge to listen to a piece of music that I hadn’t heard in a while, and as it always does, it got my juices flowing.

So I thought, why don’t I offer it on my blog.

But as it’s a bit long, I decided to just present the last ten minutes as a video.

Now I’m willing to bet that practically everyone knows at least one excerpt from this work but only a few folks might know the whole thing. In the portion that I’m offering, I’m of course including the well known section.

The challenge, should you decide to take it, is how quickly can you identify the piece before the well-known section appears.

I spent several hours searching for images and adding captions to the video, so I hope that at least a few people take the challenge. I really didn’t intend to spend that much time on it.

And oh, yes, I do need to warn you that the video contains full frontal nudity of both men and women in the form of well known paintings. Well, I think they’re all known. I just did a search on “well known nude paintings” and used whatever showed up.

That’s because the words that the chorus sings are rather racy and I felt I needed images to complement the words.

So if you’re easily offended by sexual imagery and talk of loss of virginity when springtime comes around, you might want to skip this. In other words if you’re a Republican.
