Now comes word of a new anthology of crime fiction inspired by the songs of Stephen Sondheim entitled Every Day a Little Death.
Sounds like it’s right up my alley as I like Sondheim and I like crime fiction.
But I’m so swamped with other things right now and I’m backlogged with reading material that I’m afraid I’m going to have to put it on the back burner for the time being. I can only handle so many things at one time.
I’ll just point out that the editor, Josh Pachter, has produced other volumes of the same nature.
For example Happiness Is a Warm Gun: Crime Fiction Inspired by the Songs of The Beatles.
And Paranoia Blues: Crime Fiction Inspired by the Songs of Paul Simon.
And there’s also The Misadventures of Nero Wolfe: Parodies and Pastiches Featuring the Great Detective of West 35th Street.
So he has lots of experience putting out this kind of anthology.
If things ever slow down here, maybe I’ll get around to ordering and reading some of his books, naturally starting with the Sondheim book.
In the meantime, should any of you find the time to do so, please let me know what you think of it.

Here is the scene from the American Musical Theatre of San Jose’s 1996 production of A Little Night Music where the song “Every Day a Little Death” appears.
