I wrote the Johnny and Myra post yesterday and intended to publish it this morning, but last night just before going to bed, I made one last tweak to it. Now I write my blog posts in the MarsEdit app, which allows me to write them offline and gives me greater flexibility than if I were to write them directly in the WordPress web interface. So when I finished my tweak last night, I unthinkingly pressed the keystroke combination to publish (Cmd-Shfit-D) rather than the one to just save (Cmd-S).
“Oh, fudge!”, I said to myself. Or something very like that.
I realized my mistake immediately and changed the Status of the post from Published to Pending. Then this morning I made another edit and changed it to Published.
However, WordPress wasn’t having it. It still considered that post as being published last evening and it wouldn’t give me credit for publishing it today. So it killed my streak of publishing a new post every day at 945 days. In order to extend it to 946 days, I’d have to publish a brand new one today.
Hence, this post. To keep my streak alive.
Which reminded me of a song. From the Rodgers and Hart show A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court.
