A Broken Band

Broken watch band.

When I took off my Apple Watch on Sunday night, the band broke.

It just snapped.

I am lost without my Watch. I don’t use it just for the time. I use it to check the current temperature, for alerts, to issue Siri commands, to start and stop podcast playback, to check on appointments, for Apple fitness workouts, etc. Because of the Watch, my iPhone stays in my pocket most of the day.

So I needed to take the half hour walk to the Apple Store when it opened on Monday morning.

It’s funny but it didn’t seem like such a long trip when I made it this time. I guess I’m getting used to it again. Or maybe it was just such a pleasant day for a walk.

I had made a note in the Notes app, so I knew what size band I needed: 4. I was prepared when I got the the store; all I had to do was was pick out the color I wanted.

I had decided that I was going to get two watch bands, just in case, so I picked out the blue and the light green, but the fellow told me the bad news: they didn’t have the Neon in stock in size 4. I guess that was what I called the light green.

So I decided to take just the blue one and I could order an additional one later.

As I walked home I realized I was probably going to order a new Watch when the new series was released in the fall, so it really didn’t make sense to buy two new bands right now. Thus, I saved a little money by their being out of stock.

And when I got home and looked at the emailed receipt I saw that what I called the blue band was actually called periwinkle. Who knew?

Periwinkle band.
