Quote of the day:
The real test of character is how you treat someone who has no possibility of doing you any good.
—George Orwell
Checking in on the Mamdani campaign, he seems to be doing pretty well. At least he’s agitating all the right folks:
There has been much rending of garments and gnashing of teeth over the mayoral candidacy of Zohran Mamdani, particularly from The New York Times. There has also been much raking of muck from Mamdani’s past, particularly from The New York Times. It doesn’t appear to be affecting his candidacy, as polls of the race have him crushing the field.
So glad that I kicked The New York Times to the curb last year.

According to the Siena poll, Mamdani is leading the pack with 44%, followed by perennial sleazeball Andrew Cuomo at 25%. Somewhat farther behind is Republican asswipe Curtis Sliwa at 12%, with scumbag Eric Adams bringing up the rear at 7%. One wonders how such an obviously guilty Adams can maintain even a 7% following, but I guess in the city that never sleeps there are voters that never keep tabs on their elected officials. Whatever.
I’m still wondering why Bill Clinton found it necessary to endorse sleazeball Cuomo during the primary, as I’ve generally been a fan of Bill up till now. But that endorsement has me seriously rethinking Bill’s relevance. I wonder what dirt Cuomo has on old Bill?
Anyway if Mamdani wins the Mayoral election, what lessons might the Democrats learn from it? The folks at electoral-vote.com propose three possibilities:
- What Democratic voters really want is someone who talks like Donald Trump, in the sense that he promises to shake up the system for the benefit of the little guy.
- What Democratic voters really want is someone who is young and social-media savvy and charismatic.
- What Democratic voters really want is someone, anyone, who’s not a sleazeball.
I’m partial to the third one myself, but perhaps it’s a combination of all of the above. Speaking for myself I’d also like someone who isn’t reflexively Israel is always right, but I realize some people are extremely sensitive and stupid about that issue.
