How Do You Solve the Problem of Saran Wrap?

OK, it’s not actually Saran Wrap. It’s Glad Cling Wrap.

Whatever. Saran Wrap scans better in the title.

It happens every time I open a new roll of the stuff.

I cannot for the life of me get that clear plastic wrap to start unwrapping.

There’s no starter tape or anything in it and I spend minutes clawing at it trying to find the edge of the plastic to get it to start.

You’d think in this day and age there’d be a better way.

Glad and me not glad.

But I have some good news.

In its latest issue Cook’s Illustrated has a useful tip involving cling wrap.

Cook's Illustrated.

Slide chopsticks into the sides of cling wrap and aluminum foil and other roll out items. They help prevent the rolls from jumping out of the box.

Finally a use for chopsticks!
