Now that I know that measuring by weight rather than volume can produce better results, I want to convert my recipes to weights where appropriate. I found a very useful site from King Arthur that gives the equivalents for many ingredients:
It’s been awhile since I mentioned The Beatles, hasn’t it?
So it’s time to rectify that.
Here’s a video about the creation of their song “A Day in the Life”:
I haven’t mentioned Graham and Maria for a few weeks either, have I?
Well, in this video they tackle a problem that might be more common than is commonly realized.
A 52-year-old divorced mother with a 17-year-old son was watching some episodes of Heated Rivalry with her boyfriend on the couch, when things got a little, well, heated. Who knew that watching gay hockey players getting it on could turn on a middle-aged straight couple? Apparently it did. And then her son unexpectedly returned and caught them in flagrante delicto. Pardon my French. Oh, actually that’s Latin.
I don’t know how helpful Graham and Maria’s advice is, but it had me laughing out loud. Do I need to add that it’s not safe for work?
Speaking of Heated Rivalry, I heard about that show a month or so ago and tried watching the first episode, which I promptly turned off after a few seconds. No, it wasn’t a gay sex scene that offended me, I was prepared for that. No, in this day and age they had the audacity to open with some dude lighting a cigarette.
I’ve previously mentioned that I have a real bug up my ass about any forms of smoking and depicting it in a dramatic series. Maybe I’ll give the show another chance, maybe I won’t.
