The primary election is coming up and I realized I should have received my mail-in ballot by now, or at least have been notified that it was on its way.

Instead, I’ve gotten a couple of emails to let me know that the election is due and to check my registration status.

Hmm.

Happily, Pennsylvania lets me check my status via the web, and when I did that I found that yes, I’m still registered, but no, I’m no longer set to receive a mail-in ballot. I was supposed to receive a notification in February to verify that I still wanted to receive a mail-in ballot, but I never received that notice.

Did the Post Office not deliver it?

That’s a possibility.

I quite often receive mail that is addressed to someone else; it has my correct street number on it, but the wrong street. When that happens, I always deliver it myself to the correct address. It stands to reason that if I’m occasionally receiving someone else’s mail, someone else is sometimes receiving my mail. Perhaps that someone else isn’t quite so punctilious in delivering it to me.

In any case, Pennsylvania’s web site allowed me to correct the problem and re-register for a mail-in ballot, which is what I did.

So I should be receiving the ballot in a few days.

The election is on May 19, so I have about three weeks.

Shortly after writing the above I received email from the PA Dept of State that my ballot will be on its way shortly.
