I bought a lavalier microphone a few days ago as I want to make some videos where it will come in handy.

A lavalier mic is one of those tiny little gizmos that you often see TV announcers or others clip onto their shirts when they are away from their studio and don’t want to be bothered with a hand held or other microphone.

The reason for getting one is that the audio quality is better than what I can get from the built-in microphone on the iPhone.

I’ve had several problems with this one, not the least being that Apple’s spell checker doesn’t recognize lavalier and wants to change it to cavalier. 

The bigger problem was that the mic that I bought didn’t match the documentation and the videos that came with it, so figuring out how to use it was a challenge.
