Sharper is a new movie available on Apple TV+, and it’s difficult to say anything substantial about it without giving away details of the plot that are better left for viewers to discover for themselves. I’d even recommend avoiding the official trailer.
So I’ll talk about the Black List for a bit.
The Black List is just a survey of the most liked unproduced screenplays, aggregated using votes from professionals working in the film industry.
Some of the films that have made the Black List include The King’s Speech and Argo. Alas, execrable rubbish that should never have seen the light of day like Knock at the Cabin have also made the list.
Sharper was on the list and someone brought it to Julianne Moore’s attention, so she decided to produce it as well as play a key role in it. It also features other actors such as John Lithgow, Justice Smith, Sebastian Stan, and Briana Middleton.
It’s a fun ride, but if, like me, you’ve seen your fair share of twisty, turny thrillers, you might see one of the big reveals coming long before it arrives. That did downgrade it a bit from a great thriller to a merely good one for me.
But it’s still a good one with lots of twists that I didn’t see coming.
And some good acting as well.
