I was getting inundated with texts begging for money from various Democratic candidates, just because years ago I donated to a Democratic candidate.

Although I was marking them as Spam, it wasn’t doing any good.

Then I heard that simply replying with Stop would bring them to a halt.

So I tried that.

And it worked!

Not completely, of course, but what had been a flood is now a trickle. Presumably my number had already been spread far and wide and not everybody has gotten the stop message, but things are much better than they were.

I didn’t need to use all caps either. A simple Stop did the trick. For the last couple of weeks things have settled down considerably.

As I continue to reply Stop to the messages that are continuing to trickle in, perhaps I can finally bring them all to a halt.
