Dr. Kenneth Miller

Quote of the day:

It’s astonishing in this world how things don’t turn out at all the way you expect them to.
—Agatha Christie

Kenneth Miller's Books.

Dr. Kenneth Miller is that rarity, a scientist who is also a devout Catholic. I actually started to write “practicing Catholic” but I think he’s past the practice stage.

Anyway, I first heard about Dr. Miller when he testified at the Kitzmiller trial in Dover, Pennsylvania, in 2005. That was when a bunch of evangelical Christians infiltrated the school board and tried to force the teaching of “intelligent design” instead of science during biology class. They ultimately lost, thanks in no small part to Dr. Miller’s reasoned testimony.

Seth Andrews recently interviewed Dr. Miller and it’s an interesting conversation. They discuss religion, Catholicism, science, and certain current events, among other things. Seth does challenge him a bit on his religion and Dr. Miller is well prepared, but there are a couple questions I’d like to put to him if I ever got the chance. Then again, maybe not. We need allies like Dr. Miller and once again, if all Christians were like Dr. Miller, etc., etc.

Here’s the video.
