I wanted to include all the encores that Yannick played during the New Year’s Day concert, but I couldn’t or the video would have gotten too long.
So confined myself to the final two encores, which are the two standard ones that the audience always expects. Or that the audience demands.

I sometimes think the audience is there simply for the final two encores.
By the way, Petroc Trelawny revealed that the flowers were gathered and arranged by a legion of gardeners from Vienna’s Department of Municipal Parks, so that explains that. He didn’t say how long it took them to arrange them.

It’s hard to believe that Yannick is 50 years old already. It seems like it was only yesterday that he took over the Philadelphia Orchestra as a fresh faced thirty-something-year-old.
Anyway, Yannick still managed to put his own spin on each of the two standard encores.
I believe the audience ended up having a good time, and they appreciated Yannick’s multi-lingual New Year’s message.
