This about two podcast episodes.
First up, is the Fresh Air episode featuring Jeremy Strong who became famous for portraying the part of Kendall Roy in HBO’s Succession, which was based on the disgusting Rupert Murdoch family. Currently he can be seen in the movie The Apprentice playing the even more disgusting role of Roy Cohn, the closeted gay lawyer who was Joe McCarthy’s lover during McCarthy’s communist witch-hunts in the 50s and later became Donald Trump’s mentor. Cohn died of AIDS in 1986.
Don’t Joe and Roy look cozy together? Who would’ve thought that after they spent the day screwing over innocent victims, they went home and screwed each other?

You can hear Jeremy Strong talk about those roles in Jeremy Strong On Delusion, Dreams and Doing What It Takes [Extended Version].

On a happier note, John and Craig welcome back Taffy Brodesser-Akner (Fleishman is in Trouble) for a deep dive on 2011’s sports drama Moneyball in the Moneyball episode of Scriptnotes. You can also hear Craig expound on why baseball, alone of all the professional sports, has produced so many good movies.
